Installation & Configuration

There are a couple of options for installing the Testing Build Tasks:
  1. Install the downloadable MSI package. This will install the build task assembly (DLL) and the targets file. The build task assembly is installed into the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) and the targets file is installed to C:\Program Files\MSBuild\TestingBuildTasks.
  2. Compile the source code and install the build task assembly and targets file whereever you like.

Using the Testing Build Tasks

The Testing Build Tasks can be used by your MSBuild scripts or your Team Build scripts. In either case, the usage is the same.

First, you need to import the targets file. Here is an example of what the import tag should look like:

<Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\TestingBuildTasks\TestingBuildTasks.targets"/>

Second, you need to call the desired build task at the appropriate place in your script. Currently, the only build task available is the FitNesseBuildTask, which will run a set of FitNesse tests. The following example shows the FitNesseBuildTask being called after the build has completed:

  <Target Name="AfterBuild">
    <FitNesseBuildTask
      FitNessePort="8081"
      TestPage="MyTest?test"
      LogFile="C:\FitNesse\Test.html"
      >
    </FitNesseBuildTask>
  </Target>

In the above example, the FitNesse test, MyTest, will be executed as soon as the build has completed.
