The TestingBuildTasks source code has been updated to resolve the earlier issues we were having with Windows 2003 Server. The problem we were having revolved around the .NET version of TestRunner.exe - it tended to act inconsistenly with our tests. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes when it did work, the results wouldn't necessarily match the results from the FitNesse page for the same test executed within a browser.

This release no longer uses the TestRunner.exe program to execute the tests. Rather, it executes the tests by calling the test URL directly and parsing the resulting HTML to determine whether the tests passed or not. Not only does this approach seem to work a lot more consistenly (why wouldn't it since it's calling the test page directly), it also removes the need to have the FitNesse files installed on the build server.

We still don't have a "binary" release but that is planned and should be the next release following this one.

Today marks the first (alpha) release of the TestingBuildTasks source code (i.e. no downloadable binaries, e.g. MSI package, at this time). There is still a lot to complete but the source code is in a compilable and runnable state for running FitNesse tests so I thought I'd go ahead and get it posted. If you find any issues with this project please let us know (via the discussions board and/or issue tracker).

This is an on-going project with several features yet to be added so please let us know if there is anything else you'd like to see supported. Any and all feedback is welcome.
